Story
The film 'Maelström' follows Bibi Champagne, a twenty-five-year-old woman seemingly living a perfect life as the daughter of a famous business owner and co-owner of successful boutiques in Quebec with her brother Philippe. However, beneath this façade, Bibi's life is in disarray due to substance abuse, an abortion she recently underwent, and the strain of meeting high expectations. After a hit-and-run accident, Bibi's life takes a turn when she encounters fifty-three-year-old Norwegian fishmonger Annstein Karlsen. This encounter leads her to meet Annstein's son, Evian Karlsen, with whom she forms a connection that might offer salvation from her crumbling life.
Summary
