Full Biography
Born as Erin Elair Moriarty on June 24, 1994, in New York City, the American actress was raised in Manhattan and discovered her love for the stage at just 11 years old when she starred as the lead in a 2005 community theater production of Annie. Choosing to pursue her passion professionally immediately after high school, she deferred college to focus on her burgeoning career.
Moriarty’s professional debut began with a recurring role in the soap opera One Life to Live (2010), followed by guest appearances in established series such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She quickly transitioned to film, appearing in the sci-fi comedy The Watch (2012) alongside Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn, and earned critical praise for her role as Kelly in the indie coming-of-age hit The Kings of Summer (2013). Her television career continued to flourish with significant roles, including playing Woody Harrelson’s daughter in the first season of HBO’s True Detective (2014) and portraying Hope Shlottman in Netflix’s Jessica Jones (2015).
In 2019, she achieved global stardom when she was cast as Annie January, also known as the superhero Starlight, in the Amazon Prime Video series The Boys. Her portrayal of a morally grounded heroine fighting corporate corruption and systemic abuse made her a central figure in the show’s success. Outside of her acting work, Moriarty is known for her resilience and advocacy. In May 2025, she publicly shared her diagnosis with Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disorder, and has since used her platform to urge fans to prioritize their health and listen to their bodies. As of 2026, she remains a prominent figure in Hollywood, recently filming the fifth and final season of The Boys.
