Full Biography
Mariya Surova is a Russian film and stage actress, born as Mariya Valeryevna Surova on November 22, 1970, in Kazan, Tatar SSR, USSR (present-day Tatarstan, Russia). She was born into a creative family; her father, Valeriy Surov, was a writer, and her mother, Valentina Surova, was an actress and theatrical scientist.
Surova made her professional stage debut at the early age of five at the Norilsk Theater. She pursued formal training in the arts, eventually graduating from the prestigious Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in 1995 under the mentorship of Sergey Solovyov. Despite her early start, she took a significant hiatus from acting between 1995 and 2007, during which time she even earned a culinary diploma.
In recent years, she has returned to the screen and stage, becoming well-known for her roles in films and series such as the drama The Last Night (Poslednyaya noch, 2015), Three Sisters (1994), and the series Detective Syndrome (2019). Beyond acting, she has established herself as a TV presenter for culinary segments on Russian television. She has been married to actor and director Roman Sviridenko since 2016.
