Minna Haapkylä (born June 10, 1973, in Helsinki, Finland) is an accomplished Finnish actress and producer with a career spanning over two decades. Educated both in Finland and France, she has demonstrated a broad range of talent across film and television, earning several prestigious accolades for her work.
Before establishing herself as a leading actress, Haapkylä had a musical past. From 1990 to 1995, she was the bass player for the all-female rock band Tarharyhmä, which also included popular singer-songwriter Maija Vilkkumaa. She later pursued her acting studies, attending the Theatre Academy Helsinki from 1993 to 1997 and the prestigious Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique in Paris for two years.
Haapkylä has earned critical acclaim throughout her career, including two Jussi Awards, Finland's premier film prize. The first was for Best Supporting Actress in the 1999 film Rakkaudella, Maire, and the second for Best Leading Actress in the 2009 film The Interrogation. Her notable film credits also include Lovers & Leavers (2002), Producing Adults (2004), and The Border (2007). In addition to her acting work, she has taken on the role of a producer for projects like the 2022 series Mobile 101.
In her personal life, Haapkylä was married to fellow actor Hannu-Pekka Björkman from 2002 until their divorce in 2014, and they have two sons. After their separation, she began a relationship with actress Joanna Haartti, whom she married in 2023.
