Full Biography
Born as Marie-Sophie Nélisse on March 27, 2000, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, the actress moved to Montreal with her family at the age of four. Initially an aspiring Olympic gymnast, she turned to acting at age seven—starting with commercials—to help fund her rigorous training and travel expenses.
Nélisse rose to prominence with her breakout role in the 2011 film Monsieur Lazhar, for which she won both a Genie and a Jutra Award. She gained international acclaim starring as Liesel Meminger in the 2013 adaptation of The Book Thief. Since 2021, she has reached a new level of global fame portraying the teenage version of Shauna Shipman in the critically acclaimed series Yellowjackets. Fluent in both English and French, she continues to be a prominent figure in both Hollywood and French-Canadian cinema.
